google_logo I regularly read what Google does, and in the past few days, I have noticed that Google has released quite a few things or made announcements of what they are about to do. So I have put together this list of things that Google has accomplished over the past few months.

Going back a bit further, lets recap on some of the best things Google has given us

So you can see Google has a lot of very handy web apps that we all use everyday. The internet will be completely different if it wasn’t for Google.

Have we missed something out on the list? Please let us know in comments.

Google has just announced that they will be creating a new operating system called Google Chrome Operating System. The new operating system that Google is developing will be an extension of the Chrome browser that will link the desktop market to the online world. Google has a lot of work to do and will think it will be ready for consumers by the second half of 2010.

I don’t know what you think, but this is one step closer for Google taking over the world. They already have access of information of what we search for, emails, documents, web history, website traffic stats, telecommunication, tracking system (latitude)  and now an operating system which I think will need broadband access and always be connected to the internet to get all the benefits.

What are your thoughts on Google developing an new operating system? Is it a good idea or are they going to far?

You can read the official Google Post here: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/introducing-google-chrome-os.html

A while a go, the EU is wanting Microsoft to either unbundle Internet Explorer with its operating system or bundle it with Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

But when the EU told Microsoft to unbundled Internet Explorer, how would people surf the Internet as their is now no web browser to download other web browsers.

Every new computer I buy or reformat, I always install Firefox, and now I will install Chrome, Internet Explorer is just an unfriendly web browser.

I think it will be good if Microsoft bundles other browsers with its OS. What are your thoughts?

Ever since Google Chrome was launched by Google, the way the Internet currently works is changing. The online war between Microsoft and Google is only beginning. Currently, Google is winning the war, and is proven by the fact that Microsoft can’t even handle people downloading the BETA version of Windows 7.

But being forgrounded is that this war between the two multimillion dollar companies will effect us, the end user.

So we have the two sides:

Google

  • Largest Search Engine
  • Google Maps
  • Google Docs
  • Gmail
  • Google Reader

vs

Microsoft

  • Live search
  • Live search maps
  • Microsoft Office
  • Windows Live Hotmail

Now how would this war effect the end users of the Internet? Well its pretty simple, and the root of the cause is at the web browsers. The four main web browser currently being used is Internet Explorer version 6 and 7, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Now being a regular Internet surfer, I only use one web browser and that is Chrome, because on a 10inch laptop screen, Chrome shows me more of the webpage then Internet Explorer or Firefox.

But recently, websites such as Gmail are giving messages to the IE6 users to update and change their web browser to Google Chrome, and Microsoft is doing the same with their email client, Windows Live Hotmail by prohibiting the use of Google Chrome Browsers sending out emails. In the Internet world that we live in today, this is not benefiting the end user, it is creating a monopoly by disallowing certain sites to be accessed from different browsers, which is not ethical.

With this war only starting, in the near future, don’t be shocked when certain ‘features’ of a website are only available to certain web browsers. Features are of websites won’t be available due to compatibility issues, but it will get us to use ‘their’ browsers, all so they get people using their software for their websites.

This rivalry war will require us users to use multiple web browsers when visiting our most frequent web pages, which is something that I am not looking forward too. Are you?

An unnamed company has made contracts Microsoft, Google and Mozilla to have forced ads in their web browsers to lower Internet and web hosting costs.

With displaying ads on the Internet is becoming more and more common, soon the top 3 Internet web browsers, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and new web browser Google Chrome, will soon contain ads within their web browser program. A new company which is yet to be named have made contracts with Microsoft, Mozilla and Google to display advertisements in the toolbars of their browsers. The three companies have decided to include ads in their browsers as they hope that other browsers follow with the change which will generate money for Internet research and development, web hosting and infrastructure. Over 90% of web users have at least one of the three web browsers installed on their computer. Experts predict that displaying ads in web browsers will rake in over $15.76 billion a year.

With this money going back to the Internet and not Microsoft, Google or Mozilla, it hopes that the Internet will become cheaper by lowering ISP costs and web hosting costs. The money will be used to increase the overall speed of the Internet and to provide Internet access to remote locations around the world. The money will also be used for research and development of the Internet infrastructure.

With this change, it may take Internet users time to get used to having ads displayed in their web browsers, but in the long run, it will benefit everyone.
