Medion Akoya Nettop-PC E2010D 2 The new Green PC out by Medion, the Medion Akoya Nettop-PC E2010D with the 18.5 inch LCD TFT Monitor E53002D included, is going to hit the shelves in Australia on Thursday 25th of June 2009.

The green beast, although I wouldn’t say very powerful since it only has an Intel® Atom™ 230 processor 1.6 GHz, 512 KB Cache, 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM, and 160 GB hard disk is for sale for $699AUD with a possible 50% Education Tax Refund, making the product around $350. For more information about the tax refund, you can click here.

The Nettop PC uses 50% less power consumption then a normal desktop PC as it only uses a maximum of 65 watts. Although I’d love to get my hands on this PC, I don’t see it fitting my needs.  The only people I see buying this product is people who don’t like laptops and regularly move to different places requiring a desktop PC.

If you love your stylish desktop PC’s and want to have a lot of space on your desk, this is a PC for you, but if you want performance and portability, you can find yourself a nice laptop. Although it will cost a bit more money, it will better suit your needs.

I don’t think that this computer will be successful in the market, but if you like a green, stylish, desktop PC, this is the one for you.

To see more specs, and photo’s, have a look after the break.

When flying, you want to try and have as much room in front of you as you possible can. But when the person in front of you reclines their chair back, you lose a lot of space, especially when you have a 17inch laptop in front of you.

So how do you get more space? Well blogger Anus Logan, says to use a water bottle. Place it on your tray holding their seat back and it reduces how much the person in front of you can reduce their seat by.

So happy flying is only a drink away. But remember to drink the contents

Yesterday I brought a new laptop, the Medion Akoya E1210 PC from Aldi. And so far  I am quite impressed with it. It’s light, small, portable and easy to use. Its more than half the size of my old laptop which is a 17 inch Medion MD 97000 which I also brought from Aldi around Easter in 2006. So my new Medion Laptop has a 10 inch screen, 160GB hard drive (which is partitioned into two parts (Boot and Recover), so you get around 139GB on your C:/ drive. It has an Intel Atom Processor 1.6GHz and 1 GB RAM. I have not weighted it yet, but is is really light. Battery lasts more than 2 hours which is alright. The laptop has a buiIt in 1.3 mega pixel web-cam and comes with a USB bluetooth dongle which is so tiny. The laptop comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Home Edition with Service Pack 3.

It also comes preloaded with some other software preinstalled, BullGuard Trial, Word Perfect Office X3, YouCam, Corel Draw Essentials Edition 3 and CorelMedia One. There is also one other program that came with this laptop Power DVD, but the thing is, it doesn’t have a CD/DVD drive, so I think that is really pointless.

Now for the downside. Well there’s nothing really. It takes a little while to get used to the keyboard from going from a 17inch laptop down to a 10 inch. It doesn’t have a CD tray, but there are workarounds that you can find here. (Ill blog that later) I also don’t like how the Fn key is on the very left of the keyboard and the Ctrl key is next to it. I personally prefer it the other way.

I think I am going to keep this laptop, its is perfect for me, as great features and for a low price of $599 AUD.

The new Medion Akoya laptop is now out and selling at Aldi stores across Australia. This laptop has a 10inch screen, 160gb HDD, 1gb of RAM, 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, weighs only 1.2KG, and the latest wireless technology with a Bluetooth Dongle.

All this for $599AUD

It comes with Microsoft Windows XP SP3 and much more software. This laptop is a rebadge of the MSI Wind but cheaper and more features. It is a good buy.
