Ways around installing CD’s without a CD/DVD Drive

Listen with webreader

Recently I have brought a laptop, but it doesn’t have a CD or DVD drive in it. So to help everyone out, I will tell you how you can install software that’s on a CD or DVD onto your computer.

Now there are a couple of ways you can do this. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to buy an external CD/DVD ROM drive that just plugs into your USB port. But if you don’t have one of them, or don’t want to buy one, you can do the following.

1. First of all you have to some how create an image of the CD. To do this, I personally use Nero. All I do is to burn the disk, but as soon as it starts to burn onto the blank disk, I abort it. Now this will save a image to your computer. Make sure you tick the check box saying keep the file on the HDD.

2. So once you have the image, transfer it over to your computer that doesn’t have the CD drive either through your home network, portable HDD or USB.

3. Now their are many software programs that can read these images such as Virtual Drive or Nero Image drive. But I personally use Daemon Tools, which mounts the image file so your computer thinks its an actual CD.

4. Now use Daemon Tools to mount the image, open up My Computer, and click on the CD drive and it should run as if there was a CD in your computer.

Then your done and you can install the program on your computer.
